Prerequisites for Motivate

In this page

Before attempting to install Motivate, the System Administrator must ensure that the following prerequisites are met in order to successfully complete the installation.

Salesforce Organisation Types

Motivate only supports the installation of the product into either an Enterprise Edition (EE), Unlimited Edition (UE) or Performance (PXE) organisation types. Installing the product into Developer Edition (DE), Group Edition or Professional Edition (PE) organisation types is not supported.

Salesforce User Licence Types

A full Salesforce licence is required by the System Administrator responsible for installing the package. Once installed, a Salesforce user licence is required to be assigned to each administrator of the Motivate application, i.e. "Motivation Designers". For other Motivate user types, either a Salesforce or Salesforce Platform user licence is required. Motivate does not support the use of any other user licence types. Users with other licence types, such as Chatter Free, will not be able to access the Motivate application or its components.

Default Workflow User

Motivate includes several Workflow Rules which are required for certain automated tasks. The Automated Setup step on the Installation and Upgrade steps carries out updates the Workflow Rules (that cannot be done automatically during the installation process). In order to run the Automated Setup, the org requires a Default Workflow User to be specified in the Salesforce setup's "Process Automation Settings".

Chatter

The Motivate application integrates with Chatter's Post and Comment features. These features do not have to be deployed and Chatter does not need to be enabled for all (or any) users. System Administrators must however ensure that Chatter is enabled in the Salesforce organisation, before they begin installing the Motivate package.
