Enabling your API user to log in to your Salesforce org from Vonage Contact Center

Depending on your Salesforce configuration, your API user may be restricted from logging in to Salesforce from unlisted IP ranges. If so, to enable your API user to log in from Vonage Contact Center (VCC), you need to add VCC IP addresses for your region to your Salesforce organization's allowed IP addresses.

Salesforce uses login IP ranges in profiles to determine which IP addresses users with that profile assigned can log in from. If the profile has login IP ranges configured, requests to log in as your API user (and any other user with this profile assigned) must come from a listed IP address. Login requests from any other IP addresses are not permitted.

To find out if you need to add VCC's IP addresses for your region and how to add them if you do, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to VCC. For information about logging in to VCC, see Logging in to the Vonage Contact Center Admin Portal.

  2. Go to Salesforce or CRM Admin (within Business Apps), depending on which appears. Salesforce or CRM Admin appears. (If you cannot see either and think you should be able to, contact VCC support.)

  3. Make a note of the value of Salesforce Username in Salesforce account credentials. This is the username of the API user in Salesforce.
  4. Log in to your Salesforce org, and go to the Salesforce user profile that applies to the API user.

    Profile

If you are not sure which profile applies to the API user, go to Users within Setup. Find the API user. The user's profile is listed in the view or in the user's user record.

  5. When you have opened the API user's assigned profile's record, you can see whether the profile has any login IP ranges configured.
    Login IP Ranges
    • If the profile has no login IP ranges configured (Login IP Ranges (0)), your API user is not restricted to logging in from any IP addresses. You do not need to add the VCC IP addresses at this time.
    • If the profile has one or more login IP ranges configured, your API user is restricted to logging in from only the listed IP addresses. Add the entries listed in the Inbound VCC traffic section in Firewall configuration for your region. You need to take notice of those highlighted with (new) as these may have been added since you last performed this task.
