Using Data Source Mappings

In the Data Source Mappings area of Vonage Contact Center, you can map one or more data sources to a single name. This mapping consolidates data in the data sources where the data sources may represent the same or related data. For more information about Data Source Mappings, see Data Source Mappings.

How do I create a data source mapping?

If you want to consolidate data from one or more data sources, create a data source mapping.

To create a data source mapping, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the VCC Admin Portal as a supervisor. For information about logging in to the VCC Admin Portal, see Logging in to the Vonage Contact Center Admin Portal.
  2. Go to Data Source Mappings (within Administration). Data Source Mappings appears.

  3. Click Create NewCreate Data Source Mapping appears.

  4. Provide the following information:

    FieldDescription
    Name

The name used to reference the mapped data sources. Make the name meaningful as you will use the name in other areas of the product.

For example, map data sources that contain customer names to Customer Name.

You cannot edit Name after you have saved the mapping.
    Description

    A description of the mapping.

For example, Groups data sources that contain customer names.

    Type

The type of data in the data source. Type filters the Data Source Keys list to include only data sources that contain data of the chosen type.

For example, click string in the Type list to limit the data sources in Data Source Keys to data sources that contain strings.

    Data Source Keys

The data source or data sources that you want to map to Name.

In the Data Source Keys list, click to see the data sources that exist in your account.
Click the name of the data source to add it to the mapping.
Click x alongside the data source to remove it.
Add as many data sources as you would like to map to Name.

For example, click Contact|CustomerName, Contact Name and Customer to map the data sources to Customer Name.

    Character limit

A data source mapping can contain a maximum of 255 characters. If a data source contains more than 255 characters, only the first 255 characters will be saved.
  5. Click Save. Now, using the example values, Customer Name includes data from Contact|CustomerName, Contact Name and Customer data sources.

How do I edit a data source mapping?

If you have a new data source to add to an existing mapping, or you have removed a data source from your account and want to delete it from the mapping, you will need to edit the mapping.

To edit an existing data source mapping, locate and click the data source mapping you want to edit.

Edit Data Source Mapping appears. Change any of the values in the fields. For information about the fields, see How do I create a data source mapping? above. You can also delete the data source mapping from this view.

When you have finished editing the mapping, click Save. Your edited data source mapping appears in the alphabetical list of mappings. Alternatively, click Cancel to undo your changes.

How do I delete a data source mapping?

To delete a data source mapping, locate the mapping in Data Source Mappings. Click the menu icon (Menu icon) in the title bar and, in the menu that appears, click Delete. A message appears—click Delete to confirm deletion. The data source mapping is removed permanently.
