Accessing and finding your way around Category Editor

In the Category Editor area of the Vonage Contact Center (VCC) Admin Portal, supervisor and administrator users can manage categorization profiles, categories, subcategories, categorization rules and substitution rules for Conversation Analyzer. Users can also can create, edit, export, import and delete categorization profiles in the account they are logged in to.

How do I access Category Editor? 

To access Category Editor, perform the following steps: 

  1. Log in to the VCC Admin Portal as a supervisor or administrator. For information about logging in to the VCC Admin Portal, see Logging in to the Vonage Contact Center Admin Portal.
  2. Go to Category Editor (within Administration). Category Editor appears, displaying all profiles available for the account.

The All profiles section contains the following columns:

FieldDescription
ProfileThe name of the profile.
LanguageThe language set for your profile. For more information on setting the language for your profiles, see Managing categorization profiles.
Last modifiedThe date the profile was last modified.

To the right of each profile row in the All profiles list, there is an ellipsis icon. Click the icon to access a context menu with the following profile options:

  • Edit—click to start editing your profile. For more information on editing profiles, see Managing categorization profiles
  • Export—click to export the profile in JSON format. We do not recommend editing profiles in JSON directly. Use Category Editor to edit your profiles.
  • Import—click to import a profile in JSON format. The name and language of the imported profile needs to be the same as the ones in the profile being replaced.
  • Copy—click to copy a profile. The profile is added to the All profiles section with a COPY_ prefix.
  • Deleteclick to permanently delete the selected profile. You cannot retrieve a deleted profile.

How do I navigate in Category Editor?

When you click a profile in the All profiles section in Category Editor, a profile page opens. The page is divided into the profile tree section and the profile table section.

Profile tree

When you open a profile, the profile tree appears to the left of the screen. The profile tree contains the following items:

  • Profile Home—click the Profile Home item in the profile tree to go back to the main page when editing a profile, categories, subcategories, categorization rules or substitution rules.

    If you wish to go back to the All profiles page listing all the profiles available for an account, click the Category Editor menu item in Vonage Contact Center or the All profiles breadcrumb at the top of the screen.

  • Category list— the category list contains all categories available for the selected profile. When you click a category, the tree item expands, listing subcategories added for the category. A category table opens in the right hand side of the screen.
  • Substitution rules—click the Substitution rules item to see the substitution rules available for your profile.

Expand and collapse the profile tree items by clicking the down and up arrows next to the items respectively. Drag the items in the profile tree to change their order. You can also drag rules from one subcategory to another or drag subcategories from one category to another.

Profile table

When you open a profile, in addition to the profile tree, the profile table opens to the right of the Category Editor screen. The table contains the following columns:

CategoryThe names of categories available in a profile. Clicking an item in this column opens the category table.
SubcategoriesThe number of subcategories available in a given category.

To the right of each category row, there is an ellipsis icon. Click the icon to access the Delete and Copy option for a category.

Category table

Select a category either by clicking an item in a profile tree or by selecting it in the profile table. When you select a category, the category table opens to the right of the screen.  The table contains the following columns:

OrderThe order in which the item is listed and will be displayed on the Conversation Analyzer player page.
SubcategoryThe names of subcategories available in a category. Clicking an item in this column opens the subcategory table.
RulesThe number of rules defined in a given subcategory.

To the right of each subcategory row, there is an ellipsis icon. Click the icon to access the Delete and Copy options for a subcategory.

Subcategory table

Select a subcategory either by clicking an item in a profile tree or by selecting it in the category table. When you select a subcategory, the subcategory table opens to the right of the screen. The table contains the following columns:

FieldDescription
OrderThe order in which the item is listed and will be displayed on the Conversation Analyzer player page.
RuleThe names of the categorization rules available in a category. Clicking an item in this column opens a rule in edit mode.
SpeakerThe speaker of the phrase defined in a rule. 

To the right of each rule row, there is an ellipsis icon. Click the icon to access the Delete, Copy and Edit options for a rule.

Substitution rule table

When you click the Substitution rules item in the profile tree, the substitution rule table opens to the right of the screen. The table contains the following columns:

FieldDescription
OrderThe order in which the item is listed and will be processed. For more information, see Overlapping substitution rules in Substitution rules.
ExpressionThe expression which the Conversation Analyzer will replace in a transcript. 
Replace withThe expression which the Conversation Analyzer will replace the original one with in a transcript.
SpeakerThe speaker of the phrase which is to be replaced in a transcript.

The Search field appears above the profile tree. Use the field to search for a specific value in the profile tree. You can search categories, subcategories, categorization rules and substitution rules. Type at least three characters of the value you want to search for. As you type, the search displays matching values without the need for you to click through the profile.

Profile Home tab

When editing a profile, categories, subcategories, rules or substitution rules, you can go back to the main page for your profile. To go back, click the Profile Home item in the profile tree. To go back to the All profiles page, click the Category Editor menu item or the All profiles breadcrumb at the top of the screen in Vonage Contact Center.
